What is Hypnosis?
95% of our mind, habits, memories, personality and dreams are subconscious, but in our world the conscious mind gets all the attention. Hypnosis is purely a heightened state of focus and relaxation. Somewhere on the staircase between awake and asleep, you will already be very good at hypnosis, every day! Whenever you day dream, recall a memory, get absorbed by a film, or drive in auto-pilot on a family journey, you are in hypnosis. Think of it as a guided meditation with super powers. Hypnosis is a way to access parts of your subconscious, whilst the body and mind are relaxed and at ease. We can then gently make sense of problematic areas and invite your inner wisdom to make the changes you want. Like a system reset and upgrade.This is a frequently asked question?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
What will a hypnotherapy session be like?
At the moment, all sessions are held over zoom. You will be sent an intake form, asking you to think about what you want from the therapy. All you will need will be a comfortable seat, a cosy blanket, a good internet connection and a peaceful place where you’re unlikely to be disturbed during the session. We will have a chat first of all, you can ask questions and I will explain the process fully. Then I will guide you into a deeply relaxing, pleasant state for the rest of the session, delivery therapy with my voice. You might not even notice you’re hypnotised, just feeling very pleasantly relaxed. Depth of trance also doesn’t matter, and you remain in control throughout, able to ‘wake up’ anytime, if you wanted to.
What if I cant be hypnotised?
Pretty much everyone can be hypnotised, and you are already very good at it! Every time you daydream or focus on your phone, you’re in a trance state. You may not have noticed you were ‘entranced’ or had heightened focus, but that’s how subtle it is. And providing you truly want the change you seek and you allow it, hypnotherapy will work for you.
How many sessions does it take?
We aim for you to feel positive shifts from the very first session. Depending on your challenge or goals, it varies but typically takes between 3-5 sessions to resolve in a significant way, it may take more, it may take less, you are in control of this.
I’m a bit anxious, can I talk to you first?
Yes ofcourse, I would love to answer any questions you have, discuss a way forward for you, and hopefully ease any anxiety. Hypnosis has many sensational misrepresentations in movies and popular culture which can make some people feel hesitant at first, but it is essentially a natural state of relaxation which you go into daily already, and you remain in control. It is nothing like the movies :)
Will you wipe my memories?
No, we don’t. We work with your memories, working through the negative emotions attached to them, neutralising misunderstandings, the memories remain, but you will feel better and healthier about them.
Where do you see clients?
At this time, all sessions are held over zoom, and when covid is neutralised we will also be holding in-person sessions at our therapy rooms at 1 Harley Street.
Online equally effective as in-person sessions, and you can be in the comfort of your own home is an advantage. All that you will need is a good internet connection, a laptop, a quiet space and a comfy chair :) The wonderful internet allows us to work online anywhere in the world, with clients from Budapest to Singapore.
How is this different from talking therapy?
Talking therapy is valuable to many in creating conscious awareness of behaviours and issues, and helping to understand the problems. However in our opinion and experience, it is less effective at actually finding solutions to resolve those problems and implementing the solutions. Hypnotherapy goes to the source in a way that is so simple and obvious, yet often overlooked and misunderstood. Movie’s for example, love therapist characters, the shrinks with the couches, yet film’s have done hypnotherapy a disservice in how they portray hypnosis.
There is no need to wrangle for answers, overthink, wrestle with thoughts, and rely on willpower - that’s the conscious mind trying to help you but only having a fraction of the information. Change happens fast with the subconscious and Hypnotherapy, if you want it.
What is your cancellation policy?
There is a 24hr cancellation policy, if sessions are cancelled with more than 24hrs there is no charge, but if cancelled within 24hr’s, the session will be charged in full.
